Christina’s Approach:
These small group sessions will utilise gentle movement and breathing techniques, visualisation, sound and meditation to relax the body and mind, helping to reduce pain, improving mobility and feeling more comfortable in your body.
Self-awareness is key to managing chronic pain as many factors can cause and contribute to the condition. With improved self-awareness and self-connection that naturally increases through mindful yoga practice, we can start to understand which movements, daily activities, lifestyle habits, food and drink choices will help to manage and alleviate symptoms as well as the things that don’t. This is called self-management and it empowers us to live with more ease and quality of life.
Sleep hygiene ( relaxation and lifestyle tips that support sleep) will be a focus as the quality of our sleep has an immense impact on the experience of pain and on our mood. Techniques to settle and re-balance the nervous system will help regulate internal systems, and reduce stress and pain by activating the relaxation response.
The practice can incorporate movements whilst seated in a chair if that is most accessible. Blankets and cushions will help give support if you are working on a yoga mat.
