Christina Jones

I am a CNHC registered yoga therapist and a TSYP and BWY accredited yoga teacher. I  have practiced yoga since 2002 and taught since 2006.

I qualified as a yoga therapist with the TSYP after completing 1,000 hours of training over three and a half years. I have worked with yoga therapy as a successful complementary healthcare approach for many different conditions with people of all ages, from the very  young to 101.

My teaching prioritises conscious breathing to reduce imbalances in the human system,  promoting relaxation, comfort and stability, self-awareness and clarity of mind. This is the  ancient and authentic approach of Prof. T Krishnamacharya and his son, TKV Desikachar,  seeing each practitioner as a unique individual and selecting accordingly from the vast  range of yoga’s tools in order to apply them in the most simple and effective way for that  person.

Yoga therapy is an invaluable education in how we can help ourselves feel better and  enjoy life more, learning about what helps us and what doesn’t, a process of self empowerment, allowing us to actively influence our own healing under the skilled and  careful guidance of a qualified and experienced therapist.

I passionately believe in yoga therapy as a complete system of self-care for body and  mind and in how vital self-care is for people who work in caring for others. A dedicated  focus for me is training healthcare staff in stress-reduction, emotional resilience and self care and to date this includes offering training courses and workshops at a children’s  hospice, Kingston Hospital, Ashford and St Peter’s hospitals, and training undergraduate  nurses and midwives at the University of Surrey.

I have completed two yoga teacher trainings and numerous specialist modules. Soon after becoming a mother, I felt a calling to establish within my life a meaningful and  supportive personal yoga practice and to study within an authentic and classical school. I  set off in search of this school and soon found the Krishnamacharya and Desikachar  tradition which led to my second teacher training and yoga therapy studies.

My studies are ongoing and continue to support me as a mother, wife, teacher and  therapist.
