Do whatever it takes to protect your energy
When I was in my 20s, I was unstoppable. I used to go to bed at 3 in the morning to wake up at 6am to go to the gym and go to university at 8am. I would spend all day at university and I would then go out with my friends and would go back to the gym in the evening. I would come home at 10pm to stay up until 2 or 3am again, to study for my exams or watch films.
As I moved countries, approached my 30s, and my responsibilities in life changed, I realised I cannot continue in the same way as my 20s. I realised that my energy is finite and it is in fact the most valuable resource I have. I realised that not getting enough sleep creates a vicious cycle of bad mood, exhaustion and insomnia in my life that sucks the joy out of everything I do.
This made me reconsider my schedule and lifestyle. It is still a work in progress but I know that I have to do what it takes to protect my energy. Because my energy is finite and it is the most valuable resource that will determine the quality of my life.
